Cat mange mites

Notoedric mange, caused by the mite Notoedres cati, is a skin condition that affects cats and can be transmitted to humans. The mites burrow into the skin, leading to hair loss, skin folds, intense itching, scaling, and sores, primarily on the face and ears. In severe cases, weight loss, fever, and extensive hair loss can occur.

Ear mites

Cats can develop ear mites, caused by Otodectes cynotis, which is a contagious condition that affects the external ear canal of cats. The mites can be spread from queen cats to their kittens, or through contaminated combs, brushes, bedding, and grooming accessories. Clinical signs of ear mite infestation in cats include intense ear scratching, head shaking, and bleeding wounds on the ear pinna from repeated scratching with their claws. Ear mites are responsible for over 50% of feline otitis external cases.
