HOW TO REMOVE TICKS FROM YOUR CAT

For an existing tick infestation, visible ticks should be removed as soon as possible with purpose-designed removal tools.

What to do if the tick has already bitten my cat?

When removing a tick from your cat, it is recommended to use a tick removal tool, such as tweezers or a tick fork. The tick should be grabbed adjacent to the skin, at the tick mouthparts, twisted, and then pulled away from the skin without squeezing the body. It is important to make sure the removed tick is dead and does not escape to find another host to feed on.

Even after removing a tick, it is possible for a cat to show signs of tick-borne diseases. Therefore, it is important to monitor your cat closely and seek veterinary attention if you notice any concerning symptoms.

How to prevent your cat from coming in contact with ticks

It is impossible to completely avoid contact between outdoor cats and ticks. However, regular checks and the use of a reliable tick treatment such as NexGard® COMBO can help protect them. Administering just one dose of NexGard® COMBO every month not only provides effective control of existing paralysis ticks within a day, but also shields against ticks for the entire month.
